This exhibition certifies some formal, morphological and subject ongoing preoccupations for the art objects and attitudes classified according to the cuteness esthetics. “Taking into account this aesthetical category combines the two concepts: commodity fetishism and subjectivity mutilation, as well as its own morphological vector, – Kindchenschema (or “baby schema”) – it leads to the unique conclusion that this approach doesn't belong to a single cultural tradition. The exhibition certifies the spread inside the European art of some post-war artistic tendencies with deep roots in both the Asian and North-American continent: The Japanese Superflat and the American Pop Surrealism. In a historical and artistic subsequence, which seems to eradicate this European production of an aesthetics referring to the commercial- artistic and also to the merchandising and to the uniform expression of a capitalism connected to economic and cultural globalization, by creating this exhibition is attempted to headline this trend in certain European countries. On the other hand, there is a constant dispute whether and in what extent this aesthetics is subordinated to other artistic trends, much more related to these countries cultural tradition” Giancarlo Carpi.

Studio Soligo, one of the most important Italian cultural associations, founded in 1969, and with a significant contribution to the Italian cultural and artistic trends of Pop Art.

Partners of the exhibition are Art Yourself Gallery (Bucharest), Joana Grevers Foundation, Arosita Gallery (Sofia) and Lantana Editore (Rome). The exhibition is part of a biennial project called “Contaminazioni”, started in 2014 with an exhibition in Constanta, Romania, and in Varna, Bulgaria.

The opening will be attended by Raffaele Soligo, director of the association and Giancarlo Carpi, curator of the exhibition.
