THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL PRINT BIENNALE IN GUANLAN, CHINA
From 10 to 12 May 2017 in Guanlan, Shenzhen, China, the Guanlan Graphic Festival was held, during which the Sixth International Print Biennale took place. The Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is a creative complex that includes work ateliers, graphic workshops, and the China Printmaking Museum.
The Bulgarian National Gallery was among the official guests at the event. Boryana Valchanova, curator at the National Gallery, took part in the Second International Printmaking Organisation Alliance Conference in the China Printmaking Museum, during which contacts with cultural institutions from all over the world were established. Details were also discussed concerning the exhibition, ‘Belt and Road’, which will open at the National Gallery - the Palace on 1 September of this year, with 100 works from the Biennale collection - 50 by Chinese artists, and 50 by artists from all over the world.
The ‘Belt and Road Initiative’, launched by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, is linked with the ancient ‘Silk Road’ and the idea of building an economic belt along it, in addition to developing cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and healthcare.
